Through the Cleanup Network, which was launched in 2017, community-based organizations, NGOs, businesses and schools partner with Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica to coordinate community cleanups across the island.

Beginning in March 2020, the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ) will be hosting a film series entitled First Saturdays, which will be held on the first Saturdays of March, April, May and June of this year. This film series has been initiated as a part of the public programming associated with the Jamaica Jamaica! exhibition, which opened to the public on February 2, 2020 and is scheduled to close on June 28, 2020.  
The NGJ will commence the film series on Saturday March 7, 2020 with the documentary film Hard Road To Travel: The Making of the Harder They Come, by Jamaican film-maker Chris Browne. Hard Road To Travel explores the two-year journey undertaken by Jamaican film-maker Perry Henzell to film and release the iconic 1972 film The Harder They Come, for which Henzell was both director and co- writer alongside Trevor RhoneThe documentary highlights the struggles of Jamaica’s early film industry, while simultaneously providing a lens through which a period of Jamaican music can be explored and interpreted. Chris Browne’s own filmography includes another outstanding Jamaican feature film, Third World Cop (1999), as well as his more recent Ghett’a Life (2011). 
The film screening of Hard Road To Travel: The Making of the Harder They Come is scheduled to commence at 1:30pm. Attendance to the event is free of cost and is open to the public. Visitors are also being encouraged to view the Jamaica Jamaica! exhibition prior to the beginning of the film. To commemorate the 20-year milestone of Caliban’s Reason, the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy and the Joint Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of the West Indies and University of Lagos, in partnership with the Departments of Africana Studies of Brown University, the Department of Philosophy, University of Connecticut and the Department of Philosophy, Towson University, Maryland are organizing an interdisciplinary Conference on Caliban’s Reason in March 19-22, 2020 to provide the space to institutionalize the preparation of future scholars and researchers in Caribbean and Global African Intellectual traditions, while also providing a unique avenue for scholars and researchers to present scholarly essays, exhibitions, as well as showcase talents in all areas of the Caribbean and Global African humanities. Panel Discussions are encouraged, to brainstorm on various aspects of the task of ensuring the survival and propagation of Caribbean, African, and African Diaspora Philosophies globally. Persons interested in organizing panels are encouraged to provide a summary of the panel, panellists, relevance to the Conference, the Caribbean intellectual traditions, Global Africa and Diaspora, and overall contribution to the development of these intellectual traditions globally.

This first edition is being held in partnership with the Local Partner Development under the theme “Building Bridges Towards Crime Prevention” to address Youth Crime and Violence Prevention.
 
PSOJ Roadmap to 2030 will be held on Tuesday, March 24th at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
 
Our presenters will include business leaders from Mexico who will share through examples from Tijuana, Chihuahua, and Morelia about how the private sector developed  crime prevention initiatives that have yielded positive results.
As is customary, corporate and association members are entitled to three(3) complimentary seats at the forum.
