The Simón Bolívar Cultural Centre (SBCC) is celebrating the 205th Anniversary of the ‘Letter from Jamaica’ by Simón Bolívar. The SBCC will be having a public viewing of an interview on Wednesday, September 16 at 10:30 am virtually with historian Amiclar Varela who discovered the original copy of the second half of the letter in 1996 to commemorate the celebration. 
The interview will be broadcasted through the Facebook page of the Simón Bolívar Cultural Centre. (link above)

The National Museum Jamaica and its Montego Bay counterpart, National Museum West will be hosting a series of Virtual Outreach programmes. The aim of the series is to bring the excitement of Jamaica’s history and culture into classrooms, libraries, homes or virtually anywhere that the interest is.

The series will feature six major topics including ‘The People Who Came, Maroons, Slave Systems: Character and Dismantlement, Post Emancipation Society, National Heroes and, Resistance and Revolt’. Each session will be an hour long and have a minimum participant requirement of ten (10) and a maximum of forty (40).

All interested parties are encouraged to sign up by contacting the museums at 876-971-9417 or by sending an email to Sharifa Balfour at sbalfour@museum-ioj.org.jm. Access to the sessions is absolutely free, just bring the attitude to learn and be amazed by the rich history and culture of Jamaica.
