Description:

Because of a lack of intermediate term care facilities in Western Jamaica, fully rehabilitated ex-street persons who have no home placement in the community are given the option to use the Day Centre and Night Shelter services while attending work, and seeking independent housing solutions.
In 1995 CUMI commenced the CUMI/JMMB Children's Programme, with the support of Jamaica Money Market Broker’s (JMMB). The services targeted children who were abandoned as a result of parent(s) afflicted with mental illness and were unable to provide care and protection.
All the children involved benefitted from the holistic method of parenting, with therapeutic support.
